Freedom To Read Week, February 20-26

Q. What does The Dumb Bunnies Go to the Zoo have in common with Calf Roping: The World Champion’s Guide for Winning Runs and Chicken Soup for the Unsinkable Soul?

A. Someone challenged each book, in an attempt to have it removed from public bookshelves in bookstores, libraries, or schools.

Attempted censorship doesn’t just impact big titles (Harry Potter) or politically charged topics (And Tango Makes Three). Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights says: “Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes the freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.”

Yes, yes, yes.
