August Closures

As you might expect, Bakka Phoenix will be closed on Monday August 5th for Simcoe Day (aka: Civic Holiday Day). We plan to swim, eat and generally cause a celebratory ruckus.

As you might not expect:  we will also be closed the week of Monday August 19th through Sunday August 25th. Yes, all week. We’re hoping to get a jump on the ongoing construction of our third floor (a project that has taken approximately forever). We’ll reopen as usual on Monday August 26th.

Be good while we’re gone! Or at least have fun. And remember: only total morons drink and drive.

Start: August 5, 2013
End: August 5, 2013

Cory Doctorow!

The inimitable Cory Doctorow is coming to town!

He’ll join us in the basement of the Lillian H. Smith Library (239 College, at Huron) this Friday March 1st (it’s a big space — let’s try to fill it!).  He’s finishing up his tour for Homeland, the sequel to his spectacular novel Little Brother. But since he’s Cory, we’ll probably also hear about e-rights, fabulous new tech, parenting, legislation, travel and… pretty much anything anyone cares to ask about.   Engaged, entertaining, and energetic: that’s Cory Doctorow.

Doors open at 6pm: the event will start at 7pm.  We’d love to see you there.
