Thurs. Nov.19th: Meet authors Saladin Ahmed and Peter Watts, live and in person. Presented by SFContario and the Friends of the Merril. 7pm at the Merril Collection (239 College).

Fri Nov 20-Sun Nov 22: SFContario 6/ Canvention 35. All weekend long, at the Ramada Plaza Hotel (300 Jarvis).

Sat. Nov. 21st: Launch of Dread Wyrm by Miles Cameron, the third book in his richly detailed Traitor Son Cycle. Nobody does battle (or battle research) quite like Cameron. Join us at the store at 3pm.

Diversity in SF/F: A Panel Discussion

Join The Friends of the Merril on Saturday, October 24th from 2:00 to 4:00 for a roundtable discussion, Seeing Our Diversity in Science Fiction and Fantasy. The event is sponsored by the Toronto Public Library.

The discussion will be moderated by academic & artist Derek Newman-Stille. The panelists will be Dr. Kathryn Allan, Editor of Disability in Science Fiction and Co-Editor of Accessing the Future;  Kelly Robson, Author of “Two-Year Man”, “Waters of Versailles”, and “The Three Resurrections of Jessica Churchill”; and Léonicka, creator of DiverseCanLit.ca.

The event will be held in the reading room of the Merril Collection, 3rd floor of the Lillian H. Smith Library at 239 College Street. The library is wheelchair accessible and can be approached, entered, and used by persons with physical and/or sensory disabilities.

The event is free and all are welcome!
